This is a Cased World War II United State Army KIA Purple Heart Private first class Lenders C. Stern 168th Infantry Regiment 34th Division.
He was killed in action January 27, 1944.

SIZE:Approximately Medal: 3-1/8" x 1-3/8"; Case: 6-1/2" x 3-1/2".
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Silk ribbon, enamel, gilt bronze.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with under-come locking catch.
