ARTIFACT:

Circa 1960 United States National Matches, National Rifle Association jacket patch. The center of the patch shows the NRA emblem, an eagle bearing a red, white, and blue shield on its chest and is perched above crossed rifles and two handguns and the patch reads: "NATIONAL MATCHES", "NRA". Each summer the National Matches are held at Camp Perry in Ohio. The tradition has been ongoing since 1907 and is also known as America's "World Series of the Shooting Sports". The National Matches feature the nation's finest civilian and military marksmen and women who compete for five weeks taking part in numerous rifle and handgun events.
