ARTIFACT:
This is an unidentified Chinese tiger plaque in etched and painted marble. It came to us along with a United States 14th Air Force veteran's grouping: the 14th went to Taiwan in the 1970s. The plaque shows an angry tiger atop a promontory, and has some Chinese characters etched upon it. It comes with a folding bamboo holder, and was made in Taiwan.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1970s.
SIZE:
Plaque: approximately 6-1/8" in diameter and 3/8" in thickness; holder: about 5-1/2" tall.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Etched marble, bamboo, brass.
ATTACHMENT:
Folding holder.
MARKINGS:
FINE MARBLE MADE IN TAIWAN REPUBLIC OF CHINA on sticker.
