ARTIFACT:
This is an unidentified aircraft instrument of unknown vintage by Pioneer Instrument. Initially named Pioneer Instrument Company in 191, nine years later the company became a division of Bendix Aviation and then became Eclipse-Pioneer in 1943. The instrument reads AIR SPEED M.P.H. PIONEER on its face and is labeled an "Autosyn Indicator" on reverse.
VINTAGE:
Circa unknown.
SIZE:
Approximately 3-1/4" square and 3-1/2" in depth.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Glass, steel, brass.
ATTACHMENT:
Screws, nuts.
MARKINGS:
PIONEER REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. on face; 5915-77A-A (Type No.) 49 520 (Serial No.), other info, PIONEER INSTRUMENT BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION PHILADELPHIA DIVISION PHILADELPHIA; OK 9/16/50 written on side; PL-118 on reverse; P and another stamp on ring at back of face.
