Description

ARTIFACT: This is a World War II era pin in 10 karat gold for Republic Aviation of Farmingdale, New York. Seversky Aircraft Company, founded by a Russian émigré and World War I veteran, became Republic Aviation Corporation in 1939 after eight years of business. The company proceeded to manufacture important military aircraft, including the P-47 Thunderbolt. The pin is for five years of service and was made by Balfour.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 1/4” in height and 1” in width.

CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS: 10 karat gold with enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Single screw post with disc backing.

MARKINGS: LGB (Balfour) 10K.
