ARTIFACT:
Beautiful Vietnam War era United States Navy USS Gridley DLG-21 plaque for LTJG P. A. Cronin who served as missile officer on board from 16 February 1970 to 1st December 1971. During this period the USS Gridley served as "shotgun" for USS Ranger, USS Constellation, and USS Kitty Hawk in the Gulf of Tonkin, Republic of Viet Nam. The lacquered wood plaque features a painted aluminum shield that reads: "U. S. S. GRIDLEY" across the top in raised lettering and beneath shows three large gold stripes with a rearing horse and crown in the bottom corner (viewer's left). The inscription reads: "LTJG P.A. CRONIN, USNR MISSILE OFFICER 16 FEB 70 - 1 DEC 71".

CONDITION:
8+ (Excellent): The plaque shows minor wear, a small wood flake is missing near the bottom point (does not detract), much of the painted details remain intact, overall excellent condition.
