Description

ARTIFACT:

Beautiful early 19th century Delft Dutch tile featuring a Musketeer. This example shows the Musketeer in full dress of blue and green, he carries in one hand a gold colored feathered hat and in the other hand perhaps a map/scroll or a scope and his sword is seen suspended from his belt. The colors are lovely and bright. There is are two holes (top left and bottom) which do not pierce through the tile, perhaps these were used to separate the tiles while in the kiln.
