ARTIFACT:
This is a beautiful bullion shoulder patch for the United States 10th Air Force. The patch made within in the China-Burma-India theatre, and shows two full wings stitched in golden bullion flanking the number 10 (which is highlighted by a silver bullion background). There is a single red-centered star at top.
VINTAGE:
Circa World War II.
SIZE:
About 2-5/8" in diameter.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Felt patch with silver and gold bullion wire and cotton gauze backing.
ATTACHMENT:
Three snaps on reverse which were attached to facilitate laundering of uniforms in tropical locations.
MARKINGS:
None.
