This is a Beautiful 1940's US Dept of the Interior Fish & Wildlife Service Deputy Game Warden Badge # 1243. The badge reads U.S. DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE U.S. DEPUTY GAME WARDEN. The badge has an eagle at top and a fish and flying fowl at center.
The Government site that discusses the history of Federal Fish & Game Agencies states that this badge was issued from 1940 to 195The fact of that matter its that it was PRODUCED during those dates, but still "issued", as this badge was given to State Agents granting them powers on Federal Lands at least into the 1970's, and possibly the early 1980's. Some are still carried today.
But this particular example of this badge is early, high quality production, possibly pre-WWII, definitely made sometime in the 1940's.
