Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a beautiful circa 1930s United States Navy submarine dolphins in rolled gold by scarce maker B&B (Bates & Bacon) Company of Attleboro, Massachusetts. Bates & Bacon went out of business in 1942 (probably acquired by Robbins, a maker in the same town). The wing is engraved on reverse to an F.F. Gainer, of whom we know nothing.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1930s.

SIZE:

Approximately 13/16" in height and 2-3/4" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Rolled gold.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal pin with come-under locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS:

B&B CO. (Bates & Bacon mark); F.F. GAINER.
