Description
This is a beautiful circa 1900s Aurora, Colorado Police badge, most likely the first issue from 190The badge is a six-point star and is ornately engraved. Aurora is a Denver suburb, and the badge was most likely made in the capital city by Sachs-Lawlor. Now unfortunately widely known for a 2012 mass shooting in a movie theatre, the city now known as Aurora took root in the pioneer tradition. Originally organized in the 1880s as a town named Fletcher, the community held together after a series of financial disasters and abandonment by their speculating namesake founder. Aurora has always had a strong military identity since World War I, as home to Fitzsimons Military Hospital (previously known as Army General Hospital #21). A few decades ago Aurora had a growth rate unparalleled in the nation, seemingly making up for its compromised beginnings.
