ARTIFACT: This is a "Not So Silent Spring" peace march pin from April 15, 1970. The pin is borrowing from the title of the 1962 work by Rachel Carson entitled "Silent Spring", in which she alerted the world to the dangers of pesticides and chemicals. The peace marches happened at colleges around the nation, many ending in violence. In Boston the march encompassed the campuses of Boston University, Harvard and Northeastern and Boston Common. The pin is in bright red, yellow and green celluloid and has a great graphic of a hand holding a small branch.

VINTAGE: Circa 1970.

SIZE: Approximately 1-11/16" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Celluloid-wrapped tin.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal safety-style pin.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a peace rally badge collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay MBX13 LDEX12/13 SDEX8/15
