Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a 1980's submarine patch for the USS Honolulu (SSN-718). The Honolulu was launched at Newport News, Virginia on September 24, 198She was decommissioned November 2, 200The patch shows the head of a Hawaiian god flanked by palm trees at its center. The ship's motto is also embroidered on the patch: Maka `Ala Mau (Hawaiian for "Always On Alert").

VINTAGE:

Circa 1980's.

SIZE:

Approximately 5-3/4" in height and 5-11/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Felt embroidered in cotton/polyester threads, mesh backing.
