ARTIFACT:
Circa 1970's Dallas Times Herald 5 year service pin in 10K gold and employee photo ID card. The pin is in the shape of a paper news folded in half with an embossed center embellishment that shows the number '5' and around it reads: "THE DALLAS TIMES HERALD SERVICE". The employee photo ID card reads: "TIMES HERALD PRINTING CO." across the top and below features the photo and signature of "DWIGHT KIERBOW 62 ??? 4274" ??? Dwight could be a nickname or middle name because the first name of signature on the card differs. The bottom of the card reads: "This card is for company identification purposes only for employees of Dallas Times Herald and KDFW ??? TV". The Dallas Times Herald was established in 1888 and during its publication years received three Pulitzer prizes for photography and two George Polk Awards. The Times Herald shut down in 1991. The shutdown was largely associated to the increased reliance on the television for late breaking and evening news. The Dallas Times Herald was an afternoon edition paper who saw its readership decline with the new trend.
