ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1969 "Give Earth a Chance" environmental movement celluloid button. These buttons were distributed by the Environmental Action for Survival Committee at the University of Michigan, who borrowed the slogan from the anti-Vietnam cry "Give peace a chance". The slogan and idea gained impetus and was in common usage by the first Earth Day in April 1970. The button is bright yellow with a globe at center.

VINTAGE: Circa 1969.

SIZE: Approximately 1-11/16" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Celluloid-wrapped tin.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal safety-style pin.

MARKINGS: Teach In April 22, 1970 along edge.

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-): The button has very little wear, mostly on reverse.
