ARTIFACT:

This is a circa 1950s jacket patch made for the United States Air Force's 509th Bomb Wing.

The patch shows a shield with an Atomic Bomb Mushroom Cloud between 2 wings, above the words DEFENSOR VINDEX.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1950's.

SIZE:

Approximately 3-1/2" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Cotton patch embroidered with multi-colored cotton threads and muslin backing.

ATTACHMENT:

To be sewn onto Flight Clothing.
