ARTIFACT:

This is a 1950s lapel pin for the American Ordnance Association. Starting out as the Army Ordnance Association in 1919, the organization's name changed in 1948 to the American Ordnance Association, as they now dealt with all branches of the military. The aim of the group was to oversee weapons technology and foster national preparedness.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1950s.

SIZE:

Approximately 9/16" in height and ½" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Plated brass with enamel.

ATTACHMENT:

Single screw post with disc backing.

MARKINGS:

L maker's mark.
