This is a 1949 Oregon Chauffeur Badge #36837
From the early to middle part of the 20th century automobile operation was still relatively new and working as a taxi driver or limo driver, chauffeur, or other vehicle operator for profit usually required a license. Many times these licenses took the form of metal or tin badges with a number and the location where the license was granted. Chauffeurs badges were simply a way for a driver to assure his passenger that he was in compliance and could safely operate a vehicle.
Approximately 1-7/16" diameter
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Horizontal "safety" type pin.
This is from a large bus & taxi collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAM19 LBGX05/19
6 (Fine+): Badge shows moderate wear and tarnish.
GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
