ARTIFACT: This is a first edition of "Lychgate: The Entrance to the Path", published in 1945 by Air Chief Marshal Lord Dowding. Dowding, about to retire in June 1939, was urged to stay on and serve for an additional nine months. His term exceeded that, and encompassed the Battle of Britain in the fall of 1940. Dowding, ever careful and protective of his men, was removed from his post in November 1940. He died in 1970. Lychgate is a work in spiritualism, a topic explored and written about in several books by Dowding after his retirement.

VINTAGE: Circa 1994.

SIZE: 128 black and white pages (no illustrations) ; approximately 7-1/2" in height and 5" in width and 1" in thickness.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Cloth-wrapped cardboard, paper, cellophane dustjacket.

ATTACHMENT: Glued binding.

MARKINGS: FIRST PUBLISHED ??? September 1945.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a military book collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBBX11 LDEX2/12

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The book has hardly any wear with only one minor stain along the edge of the front (blank) page.; cover shows only very light wear.
