ARTIFACT: This is a 1940's uniform patch for Northwest Airlines. Northwest had begun in 1926 as Northwest Airways but changed its name in 1933 to be allowed to carry air mail on a government-generated technicality. The patch is in a red, white and blue bull's-eye pattern and shows a golden wing reading U.S. AIR MAIL at its center.

VINTAGE: Circa 1940's.

SIZE: Approximately 2-15/16" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Twill embroidered in cotton/silk threads.

ATTACHMENT: To be sewn onto uniform.
