This is a 1940's uniform patch for Northwest Airlines. Northwest had begun in 1926 as Northwest Airways but changed its name in 1933 to be allowed to carry air mail on a government-generated technicality. The patch is in a red, white and blue bull's-eye pattern and shows a golden wing reading U.S. AIR MAIL at its center.
VINTAGE:Circa 1940's.
SIZE:Approximately 2-15/16" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Twill embroidered in cotton/silk threads.
ATTACHMENT:To be sewn onto uniform.
