ARTIFACT:
Nice 1940's Canadian Pacific Air Lines (CPA) hat badge by Scully of Montreal. The center of the hat badge features an enameled red and blue shield that reads: "CANADIAN PACIFIC AIR LINES” in gilt lettering and shows a missing sterling aircraft applique that was once affixed to the center. The outer edge is a nicely styled wreath in gilt brass detail. Originally established by the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, Canadian Pacific Air Lines (CPA) was in operation at the Vancouver International Airport from the 1940's to the mid 1980's originally as the Canadian Pacific Railway Company. The airline was most known for their Far East 'polar loop' with regular routes to Amsterdam, Australia, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. CP was compelled to develop alternative routes because government-owned Trans-Canada Air Lines (TCA) restricted domestic and international routes such as Vancouver to Toronto and Toronto to New York. The airline was purchased by Pacific Western Airlines in 1987 and was absorbed into Canadian Airlines International.
