Description
Beautiful, exquisitely engraved, 1939 date marked silver cigarette case featuring a Royal Air Force Pilot wing in nice relief detail. The pilot wing is the letters: "RAF" surrounded by a wreath that is centered between feather detailed wings. The inside of the case features a brass spring to hold the cigarettes in place with a maker's mark that reads: "STE - VEL". Additional, silver, date, and maker marks inside, shows: "C - E - T", the image of an anchor, the image of a lion, and the letter: "P". The heavy (over 4.5 ounces) silver case has a hinged lid and a push button locking closure, overall lovely patina. A wonderful Battle of Britain era Royal Air Force Pilot's accessory, if only this could talk and tell us of its original owner!
