Description
This is a 1930s badge for the French coastal submarine second-class "Pallas" Q-189 by Arthus Bertrand (voici un insigne pour le sous-marin côtier 2eme classe "Pallas" Q-189 faite par Arthus Bertrand). Pallas was launched in 1936 and scuttled in 194The badge has some green enameled details, and shows the goddess Athena about to strike a blow with her sword. It reads LA MER EST MON ÉGIDE (the sea is my aegis/protective shield).
VINTAGE:Circa 1930s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/4" in height and 3/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical safety-style pin with saddle.
MARKINGS:ARTHUS BERTRAND PARIS DEPOSE; small mark on saddle.

CONDITION:7 (Very Fine): The badge has areas of light to moderate wear and tarnish and a couple of very small nicks to the enamel.
