1880s - 1890s Codington Co Dakota Territory / South Dakota Deputy Sheriff Badge by Detective Pub Co
- SKU:
- pdgot00018dkt
Description
This is a great old Nickel plated Nickel badge, with full x000D
ball tips, produced for supplier Detective Publishing Company, showing the x000D
company's earlier logo, which mimicked the actual manufacturer's logo of C. H. x000D
Hanson. The badge is in what I call the Eastlake style, which was popular in x000D
the 1870's and 1880's and originated with famed Old West badge producers Tower x000D
& Lyon.
Codington County was part of the Dakota Territory until it x000D
became part of South Dakota in 1889, so this badge could easily be Territorial.
The eastern South Dakota county was active by the 1870's, x000D but sparsely populated.
VINTAGE:Circa 1900.
SIZE:The badge is typically sized at 2-5/8" in height x 2-5/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Nickel plated Nickel.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical kick pin with tongue-type 'C' catch
MARKINGS:DETECTIVE
This is from a Police Badge collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. PBAEM21 LBBGEX06/08/22
CONDITION:8 (Excellent): This badge has a great old look. The original wire C catch was replaced during the period of wear with a tongue type C catch, probably circa 1900.
GUARANTEE:As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
