Description
This is a circa 1880s-1890s combination magnifying glass/letter opener from F. (Francis) Ivers & Son of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Begun circa 1858, the company manufactured "high grade carriages", buggies and light road wagons. Ivers was the first outfit to add a bicycle wheel to the racing "svilky" (wheeled plows were once known as "svilky" plows), a move which helped them grow their already considerable national and international business.
