ARTIFACT:

This is a Civil War era New Testament pocket bible that originally belonged to Sara J. Morse of East Jaffrey, New Hampshire. The inside of the front and back covers is inscribed with poetry from Sara's sister. The bible was published in 1861 by the American Bible Society of New York.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1861.

SIZE:

Approximately 3-13/16" in height and 2-1/2" in width and " in thickness.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Embossed cloth-bound cover, paper with gilt edging, tissue paper.

ATTACHMENT:

Glued binding.
