ARTIFACT: This may well be a circa 1960s Navajo Tribal Police badge, although we are still researching its authenticity. The badge is definitely hand-tooled out of copper in the traditional Navajo style. Now known as the Navajo Nation Police, the tribal police was re-founded in 1959 after a decades-long hiatus. This badge could easily be something from circa 1960 that was worn, or something that was given out as a souvenir to VIPs when the agency was founded.

VINTAGE: Circa 1960s(?).

SIZE: Approximately 2" in width and 2-5/16" in height.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Hand-tooled copper with nickel findings and a steel pin. The front has "jeweler's black" in the letters and tooling to give contrast.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with C catch.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an accumulation of unidentified items which we will be listing more of over the next few months. Item will not be sold until it is identified. MBJX12 LX6/13

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent-): The badge has only some light wear.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
