ARTIFACT:
This may well be a circa 1960s Navajo Tribal Police badge, although we are still researching its authenticity. The badge is definitely hand-tooled out of copper in the traditional Navajo style. Now known as the Navajo Nation Police, the tribal police was re-founded in 1959 after a decades-long hiatus. This badge could easily be something from circa 1960 that was worn, or something that was given out as a souvenir to VIPs when the agency was founded.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1960s(?).
SIZE:
Approximately 2" in width and 2-5/16" in height.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Hand-tooled copper with nickel findings and a steel pin. The front has "jeweler's black" in the letters and tooling to give contrast.

Vertical pin with C catch.
