ARTIFACT: This is a Model 1923 Italian Air Force pilot officer's sword with a correct Model 1929 blade with fascia. This is a high quality private purchase sword manufactured by the firm of G. Fugini, of Brescia. This model was used until 1935 and it is very rare to find one with such a nice scabbard. Both sides of the blade have lots of nice engraving, and one side has a pilot's wing image at the center. The guard is a fantastically detailed eagle wing with the bird's crowned head topping the handle. A small propeller graces the base of the hilt where it forms the locking mechanism to hold the sword in the scabbard. .

VINTAGE: Circa 1920s with a post-1935 blade revision (pre-World War II).

SIZE: Overall: approximately 36" in length; sword only: 36" by 4-1/2"; blade only: 30" by 3/4" (at widest part); scabbard only: 30-3/4" by 7/8".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt brass, steel, leather, painted wood, felt.

ATTACHMENT: Two rings on scabbard.

MARKINGS: Maker's mark of the firm G. Fugini, of Brescia appears on the ricasso of the blade.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an Italian militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay KEZAR VAEJX12 LHEJX6/12 SGCEX3/15

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The sword is in nice condition with some areas of moderate wear mostly to the lower third of the blade, and the scabbard has some light wear and tarnish only.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
