This is a Japanese flag presented to a United States Army staff sergeant during the Occupation Period. The flag displays kanji, or characters. The characters, added next to the red sun perhaps as a good luck wish or message. The name of the recipient of this gift is handwritten at the bottom: Richard C. Branham.
Circa Occupation Period (mid to late 1940s).
Approximately 27-1/2” in height by 36-1/2” in width (as pictured, not including foam board).
Silk, leather corners at tabs.
Two string tabs.
This flag will be shipped unwrapped and folded without the foam board, unless arrangements are made for pick-up or special shipping to preserve the shrink wrap mounting. This is from a Japanese militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VEJX08 LAGEX11/11
