Nice circa 1900’s Frank Jones Portsmouth Ales bottle opener. Portsmouth Brewing Company moose head and figural bottle opener. The opener reads: “CALL FOR FRANK JONES PORTSMOUTH ALES”. Beginning in the 1900's and continuing through the 1930's, many of the openers had a special modification added. It was a small square hole, which opened and closed the gas-powered Prest-O-Lite valves on the covers of the auto's headlamps.
Approximately 3” length and 3/4” width.
Round hole for keyring attachment and square hole designed to open and close gas-powered Prest-o-lite valves on automobile headlights.
“PICNIC TRADE MARK”, “REG. U.S. PAT OFF.” and the reverse, “PAT. FEB 19, 1901”, “A.W. STEPHENS MFG. CO. WALTHAM, MASS.”
This is from an advertising collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MEX16 LIEX4/16
