ARTIFACT:
This is a wonderful circa early 1900s or 1910s Superior, Arizona police badge. Superior was a classic Old West mining town at the foot of the Superstition Mountains! Superior initially had been a place called Pinal, visited by the likes of Doc Holiday and Wyatt Earp. But the outpost was abandoned after a little over a decade once it had been stripped of its ore. It was officially re-established in 1902 and renamed Superior, and became a town in its own right. The badge is a six-pointed star and is numbered 21.
VINTAGE:
Circa early 1900s-1910s.
SIZE:
Approximately 2" in height and 1-3/4" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Nickel-plated nickel with steel saddle, nickel-plated brass pin.
ATTACHMENT:
Vertical safety-style pin with C catch, saddle.
MARKINGS:
21 on front.
