ARTIFACT:
This is a rare circa 1966-1968 numbered agent badge for the United States Bureau of Drug Abuse Control. This bureau was a part of the US Food and Drug Administration for only two years before being absorbed first into the Federal Bureau of Narcotics and eventually into the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration). The large shield-shaped badge is plated in 24 karat gold and has a mark for KaratKlad, a Blackinton trademarked finishing process.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1966-1968.
SIZE:
Approximately 3" in height and 2" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
24 karat gold plated, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:
Vertical pin with come-under locking swivel catch.
MARKINGS:
130; 24K KARATCLAD HGE.
