ARTIFACT: Classic Korean War Type B-8 Jet Fighter Stick by Guardian as used in F-86 Sabre, nicely mounted for display. The stick has a connection plug in between the grip and the bottom portion that meets with the wooden base. This model was used in the F-86 Sabre jet fighter, which began flying in 1947 and was retired in 1980. The Sabre was the premier fighter aircraft during the Korean War. The F-86 was more effective at incredibly high speeds than the opposition's aircraft and outmaneuvered them almost every time. Great emphasis has been given to the level of training, combat aggressiveness, and experience of the pilots who flew the F-86, many who were WWII trained pilots. "By the end of hostilities, F-86 pilots were credited with shooting down 792 MiGs for a loss of only 78 Sabres, a victory ratio of 10:1" (Wiki article on F-86)
