ARTIFACT: Early example, circa 1941 of the American Red Cross General Service pin designed by artist, Malvina Hoffman. The enameled brass badge features a red, white, and blue shield with a red cross in the center against a white background, surrounded by a blue border. The top of the shield features an eagle, his wings open and draped along the sides of the shield which reads: "SERVICE" along the top.

VINTAGE: Circa 1941

SIZE: Approximately 15/16" x 1-1/16".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Enameled, gilt brass

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with drop in locking swivel catch

MARKINGS: "MALVINA HOFFMAN"

ITEM NOTES: This is from a Red Cross collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VEM11 LFJX1/16 SFJX10/18

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine—Excellent): The service badge shows minor wear, nearly all the enamel and gilt details remain intact, overall excellent condition.
