ARTIFACT:
Extremely rare, WWII Japanese Senninbari (Thousand Stitch) Vest. The front displays kanji on the left shoulder and a visible shrine stamp. The reverse is embroidered, decorated with 1000 stitches, each done by a different woman. Senninbari's were given as an amulet to soldiers on their way to war as a part of the Shinto culture of Imperial Japan.

Approximately: Armpit to armpit: 17"; Shoulder to shoulder (across back): 11"; Collar to hem: 17-3/4"

Embroidered wool, metal snaps
ATTACHMENT:
Five metal snaps for closure
MARKINGS:
Shrine stamp, kanji, "500" with a star on the snaps.
