Wonderful 1930s-1940s Culver City CA Police Sergeant Badge #2 by Entenmann

What we have here is a Wonderful 1930’s – 1940’s Culver City California Police Sergeant Badge #2 by the Carl Entenmann Jewelry Company of Los Angeles. The sergeant ranks of CPD wore a two-tone badge, unique to their rank. This badge, most likely made in the 1930’s, was originally made of gilt brass/bronze, with applied sterling silver panels, with hard fired enamel, having the STATE seal at center. Then, just post-WWII, the central seal panel was updated with a chromed & enameled brass panel with the CITY seal. Under close examination of the reverse, one can see the subtle differences between the rivets that hold the central panel compared to the other 3 panels, and on the obverse, the chrome finish of the central panel compared to the slightly richer silver finish of the other 3 panels. A wonderful, and rare, transitional badge for this hard to get and desirable department.

VINTAGE: 1930s – 1940s.

SIZE: Approximately 3-3/8" in height x 2-1/2" in width.

CONSTRUCTION: Gilt Brass/Bronze, hard fired enameled sterling silver, and hard fired enameled chrome plated brass.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical kick type pin with drop-in locking catch.
