ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1910 advertising bottle opener from Andrew O. Caswell Bottling of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The opener has a skeleton key shape with a lobster claw end and reads ANDREW O. CASWELL, BOTTLER PORTSMOUTH, N.H. Beginning in the 1910's and continuing through the 1930's, many of the openers had a special modification added. It was a small square hole, which opened and closed the gas-powered Prest-O-Lite valves on the covers of the auto's headlamps.

VINTAGE: Circa 1910.

SIZE: Approximately 3 length and 7/8 width.

CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS: Iron.

ATTACHMENT: Opening for keyring attachment and square hole designed to open and close gas-powered Prest-o-lite valves on automobile headlights.
