ARTIFACT: This is a wonderful Early WWI "Gott Strafe England" German Battleship Badge. "Gott Strafe England" is the German saying for "May God punish England." Coined by the German-Jewish poet Ernst Lissaur, who made his distaste of England quite known with his "Hymn of Hate." The hymn was so popular among the Kaiser and the high up officials that the saying "Gott Strafe England" was printed onto a lot of German military insignia during World War I
