Description

ARTIFACT: Large Beautiful Deteiled Vietnam War Late 1960s Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club USN Novelty Patch Japanese Made.
The "Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club" was the unofficial, tongue-in-cheek nickname for the U.S. Navy's Seventh Fleet (Task Force 77) operating off Vietnam in the late 1960s, symbolizing its crucial role in the Vietnam War by providing air support from carriers at Yankee Station in the Gulf of Tonkin, supporting operations like Rolling Thunder, and serving as a symbol for the entire naval air campaign. Membership, marked by unofficial patches, extended to sailors on ships, pilots, and even Marines, all involved in the intense air war and coastal operations, from carrier sorties to riverine patrols, solidifying its iconic status among veterans of that era.
