ARTIFACT: This is an early 1945 United States Army booklet entitled "Nansei Shoto (Ryukyu Islands Ð Loochoo Islands): A Pocket Guide" This book was given to servicemen taking part in the April 1, 1945 invasion of these Japanese islands. The book gives a brief cultural overview of the people inhabiting the islands. It has some black and white illustrations and a few one-color maps of the region.

VINTAGE: Published early 1945.

SIZE: 39 pages; approximately 5-1/4" by 4-1/4".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Construction paper.

ATTACHMENT: Stapled binding.

MARKINGS: Reproduced by 30th Engr. Base Top Bn USAFCPBC NO. 5356.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a WWII United States Army pocket guide collection that we will be listing more of over the next few months. VDX04 LBCX3/14 SBCX10/14

CONDITION: 5+ (Fine-): The book has several stains and some rust on the staples; creasing/warping throughout center of booklet. No tears or writing.
