ARTIFACT:
This is a beautiful membership medal from the General Society of Colonial Wars in its original box. The front of the medal shows an Indian's head circumscribed with the Society's motto "Fortiter pro Patria," meaning "Bravely for Country." On the reverse side, the base of the crown is engraved: Mass. 101.
VINTAGE:
Ca. 1900.
SIZE:
The medal itself is 2" in height and 1 ½" in width, and the ribbon measures approximately 1 ¼" in height.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
The medal is gilt silver and enamel with a silk ribbon; it is set in a jewelry box with a satin cushion.
ATTACHMENT:
Pin with simple catch attached to the back of the ribbon.
MARKINGS:
Mass. 101 on the reverse base of the crown.

CONDITION:
8- (Very Fine-Excellent) The medal has some tarnishing, but shows very little wear otherwise, and is in a very good condition. The box has some exterior stains (please refer to photo below) and some wear on the corners, but is in good condition otherwise.
