ARTIFACT:
This is a near mint, high-quality silver World War II German Panzer assault badge made by A.S. (please see "Markings" section below for details). The badge is a wreath with an eagle and swastika at top framing a tank.
VINTAGE:
Circa World War II.
SIZE:
2-7/16" height and 1-11/16" width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Plated zinc with brass & metal findings.
ATTACHMENT:
Vertical kick pin with "C" catch.
MARKINGS:
A.S. maker's mark. The reverse is well marked with embossed, stylized, overlapping manufacturer's initials in a triangle: "AS", indicating manufacture by either Adolf Scholze of GrŸnwald or Adolf Schwerdt of Stuttgart. The debate continues.
