This is an old Japanese warrior netsuke (miniature carving) in ivory. He is carrying a satchel slung over his shoulder and has on a type of short battle garment. A cord was typically fished through the hole running through the center of the warrior and the netsuke was then hung from a kimono sash.
Circa early to mid-19th century.
Approximately 2-3/16" in height and 1" in width.
This is from a Japanese collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. TRBJJX01 LCEJX1/11 SBBJX9/11
8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The netsuke has some light wear which is evident mostly on the facial features and attractive mellowing.
As with all my items, this piece is guaranteed original.
