Many AVG members became CNAC employees after the AVG disbanded. Nicknamed "Pappy", Van Cleve worked as Chief of the Supply Division from 1944 until 1947, when he returned to his home in California. In 1982 he was awarded the China War Memorial Medal (or K'ang Chan-Nien Chang), a medal bestowed upon CNAC employees, AVG members and members of the 14th Air Force who served under General Claire Chennault alike. Van Cleve passed away in 1998. The passport documents Van Cleve's wartime and post-war travels, which included time in India.
