ARTIFACT:
This is an extremely rare framed set of AVG/Flying Tigers paperwork originally belonging to Clerk Edwin L. Fobes, who served in Burma and China. The set includes an honorable discharge, a photo identification booklet and a record of service, all signed by General Claire Chennault. The ID is framed and matted so that the cover of the booklet is visible on the reverse side, and the discharge and record of service are framed back-to-back, both documents visible. The China Air Task Force (CATF) replaced the 1st American Volunteer Group (aka "Flying Tigers") and was the precursor to the 14th Air Force. Included with the documents is correspondence from when the pieces were previously sold to the collector from whom we acquired the pieces.

Circa World War II.
SIZE:
Framed discharge/record of service: approximately 12-1/8" in height by 15-1/8" in width; framed ID card: approximately 6-9/16" in height by 7-9/16" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Paper, photograph, matting, glass, wood, plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:
One bracket on reverse of both frames.
MARKINGS:
Chop stamps; 7792 written on reverse of ID card frame.

CONDITION:
8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The documents are all very well-preserved, with some light creasing: there are some areas of moderate wear to the ID booklet cover only.
