ARTIFACT: This is a rare 1903 UCV (United Confederate Veterans) New Orleans National Reunion medal. Formed in 1889, the UCV was the Confederate answer to the Union's Grand Army of the Republic. This medal has a medallion hanging from a pale blue silk ribbon and a "VETERAN" bar at the top. The reverse of the lightweight medallion has a Milwaukee maker mark. It also shows a mother pelican and her hatchlings beneath the motto "Justice, Union and Confidence", the flag design of the State of Louisiana.

VINTAGE: Circa 1903.

SIZE: Approximately 3-5/8" in height and 1-1/2" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated brass, aluminum, silk.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal safety-style pin on bar, ribbon, suspension ring.

MARKINGS: SCHWAB S.& S. (Stamp & Stationery) CO. MILWAUKEE on reverse.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The medal has only very light wear/tarnish.
