This is a plaque for the United States Navy’s 96th Construction Battalion, the group better known as the Seabees. The wooden plaque is shield-shaped and shows a painted eagle perched on a 96 and an anchor.
VINTAGE:
Circa World War II.
SIZE:
8-7/8” height and 8-3/16” width and 3/4” thickness.
CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS:
Painted wood.
ATTACHMENT:
Two hooks with twine.
MARKINGS:
J.R. CONNELL (?) A-3 handwritten on reverse.
