This is an experimental canteen for the United States Army which was used during the Philippines Insurrection era. The canteen was experimental in that it was used in a tropical clime yet had a wool insulating layer. There is a chain connecting the cork to the mouth of the canteen, and the body of the canteen is secured within a canvas covering by laces.
Approximately 10-1/2” height and 9” width.
Cotton canvas cover, cork stopper, steel/tin/galvanized tin hardware, twine, wool insulation.
One triangular brass loop on each side.
This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAJJX05 LCDEX8/10
