
SUBJECT:
This is a very early, named and low-numbered California National Guard 10 years of service medal. The front of the medal reads SERVICE MEDAL N.G.C. and has a great design, showing a sunset, four bears, the insignia of all the armed forces and the State of California seal. A bar at top reads CIVITATI 10 SERVIVI. The reverse shows an engraved number, name, presentation and date.

Circa 1891.

3-1/4” height and 1-7/8” width.
CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS:
Bronze medal and plated brass bar with silk ribbon.
ATTACHMENT:
Horizontal T-style pin with tubular "C" catch.

NO. 115 AWARDED BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO EDWARD C. HUGHES FEB 9, ’91 FOR LONG & FAITHFUL SERVICE IN ITS NATIONAL GUARD on reverse.

7 (Very Fine): Medal is very handsomely tarnished with light wear and the ribbon shows moderate wear and some discoloration.
