ARTIFACT:
Beautiful WWI United States Army Officer hat badge. This example was made in the United Kingdom by J.R. Gaunt with blackened bronze. The badge is in the shape of the Great Seal of the United States with an eagle, wings spread, clutching arrows and an olive branch, with a cloud above showing thirteen stars. A banner in the eagle's beak reads: "E PLURIBUS UNUM" ("Out of Many, One") and its chest bears the US Shield.

Blackened bronze.
ATTACHMENT:
Single post with screwback and two stabilizer pins.
